How big is the Brazilian online audience?
It is very large. DataReportal's Digital 2026 report, published on 8 November 2025, counted 185 million internet users in Brazil in October 2025, or 86.9% of the population 2. About 28.0 million people, 13.2%, were offline 2. Social media user identities reached 150 million, though that count may include duplicates 2.
Search runs mainly on Google. Statcounter recorded Google at 88.41% of search-engine referrals in Brazil in September 2026, Bing at 9.63% and Yahoo at 1.54% 1. Bing's share is high enough to deserve a Bing Webmaster Tools setup. These are referral shares, not questions asked, and they exclude AI assistants 1.
The Brazilian economy is service-led. Wikipedia reports services at 58.88% of GDP in 2023, and nominal GDP of about $2.6 trillion in a 2026 estimate, the tenth-largest economy 8. That points to many local service firms competing for the same search questions.

Which Portuguese should you write in?
Write in Brazilian Portuguese. Wikipedia reports a 99.5% figure for Portuguese without defining it, and says nearly everyone speaks it 4. It also says Brazilian Portuguese differs noticeably from European Portuguese in sound and vocabulary, a gap compared to British and American English, though the two are mutually intelligible 4.
Do not reuse a page written for Portugal. An assistant matching a Brazilian prompt will lean toward pages that use the same words, spelling habits and prices in reais. A page that says 'preço' and 'R$' in the right style reads as local.

English is a minority choice here. Use it only if your buyers are foreign companies, for example exporters or tourism firms serving visitors.
What role does WhatsApp play in getting found?
It is where some enquiries may land, but it is not where assistants find you. Private chats are not public web pages, so an AI assistant cannot cite them. Your job is to publish the answers on your site, then let the chat handle the follow-up.
We did not find a verified figure for WhatsApp use in Brazil. Wikipedia reports about 200 million monthly users of WhatsApp Business worldwide in 2023, with no country split 5. It also records that WhatsApp Payments became generally available in Brazil and India 5.
Practical steps follow. Put a click-to-chat button on each answer page. Put the business number, opening hours and a short 'what to send us' list on the page. Track which pages the chat clicks start from, so you can see which answers drive enquiries.
How does the LGPD affect your site and lead forms?
It applies whenever you handle personal data of people in Brazil. Wikipedia summarises Brazil's General Personal Data Protection Law, Law 13.709/2018, as covering data of individuals located in Brazil, data collected or processed in Brazil, and data used to offer goods or services to people in Brazil, including from abroad 3.
The regulator is the ANPD, the national data protection authority. Sanctions have applied since 1 August 2021, and the maximum fine under article 52 is 2% of a private company's revenue in Brazil, capped at 50 million reais 3. The law lists several legal bases for processing, including consent, contract performance and the legitimate interests of the controller 3.
For a small business this means: say plainly what data your forms collect and why, keep what you need, and record consent where you rely on it. If you collect leads from WhatsApp or from a form, explain how they can ask you to delete their data. What should you publish first?
Publish a page for each question buyers ask before they message you, and lead with the answer. The best first five are: what you do, what it costs in reais, where you work, how to choose a provider, and how to contact or book.
Make each page specific to the city. Name the neighbourhoods you serve, such as Pinheiros or Savassi, and say how long a service takes. Avoid copy that could be pasted onto any site.
