Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit Alternatives
The Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit suits teams that want a posted price and a short prompt list: $99 a month for 25 prompts with ChatGPT and Google AI Mode named as examples. Alternatives are Ahrefs Brand Radar, Otterly.AI, Scrunch, AthenaHQ and Profound, or a free spreadsheet routine. We read public pages only and have tested none of them.
- The toolkit lists 25 prompts for $99 a month and names two engines as examples, ChatGPT and Google AI Mode 1.
- Cost per tracked prompt varies more than fivefold across posted plans by our sums, but engines differ, so it is not like for like.
- Semrush lists no free trial for the toolkit 1.
- Free routes exist: Search Console, free tiers and a prompt log.
What are the best alternatives to the Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit?
Pick by the problem you are solving. If the toolkit is too small, look at Scrunch or Otterly.AI, which list larger prompt allowances. If you want more engines, look at AthenaHQ or Profound. If you prefer Ahrefs, look at its Brand Radar add-on. If you only need a baseline, use free reports.
We read each vendor's public page on 20 October 2026. We did not run a hands-on test, so we rank nothing and make no claim about accuracy. Disclosure: Chalk Labs sells AI SEO strategy and page production. We do not sell a tracking tool.
What does the toolkit actually include?
Semrush's help page lists a $99 monthly price, with 25 prompts for Prompt Tracking 1. Extra domains for Brand Performance cost $99 each a month, and 50 more prompts cost $60 a month 1. Larger Semrush One plans raise the prompt count to 50, 100 or 200 1.
The page names two engines as examples, ChatGPT and Google AI Mode, and introduces them with "platforms like" 1. Reports include Visibility Overview, Competitor Research, Prompt Research, Brand Performance, Prompt Tracking and an AI Search Site Audit that covers up to 100 pages 1. The page also says there is no free trial 1. Semrush's pricing page lists SEO plus AI plans from $165.17 a month billed annually, and it did not show a separate toolkit price 2.
Why do teams look beyond the toolkit?
Three gaps come up. The engine list looks short: the page names ChatGPT and Google AI Mode as examples (it says "platforms like"), so confirm with Semrush whether Claude, Perplexity or Gemini are covered 1. The base prompt allowance is small, so a team tracking several products or countries will hit it fast. And there is no trial, so you pay before you see your own data 1.
None of these is a flaw if your needs are modest. A local firm with 20 prompts and a Semrush login may find the toolkit enough. Check the fit against your list, not against ours.
How do the alternatives compare side by side?
The table shows what each vendor's own page listed on 20 October 2026. Where a page gave no figure, we say so.
| Tool | Public price | Prompts | Engines | Trial or free tier |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit | $99 a month 1. | 25, plus 50 for $60 1. | ChatGPT, Google AI Mode named as examples 1. | No trial 1. |

| Otterly.AI | $29, $189 or $489 a month; page also shows $25, $160, $422 without saying which applies 4. | 15, 100 or 400 4. | Four included; three extra at a fee 4. | Trial offered, length not stated 4. |
| Scrunch | $300 a month, or $250 billed annually 6. | 350 on Starter 6. | ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Meta 6. | 7 days, no card 6. |

What does one tracked prompt cost on each plan?
Dividing price by prompts gives a rough monthly cost per tracked prompt. This is our arithmetic from the listed prices, and it ignores that engines, run frequency and extras differ. Use it to spot outliers, not to pick a winner.
- Otterly.AI's page shows a second, lower set of prices (Lite $25, Standard $160, Premium $422) without saying which applies; the figures above use the first set.
- AthenaHQ and Ahrefs bill by credits or checks, so they are left out of this table.
| Plan | Calculation | Per prompt a month |
|---|---|---|
| Semrush toolkit, base | $99 / 25 prompts 1 | $3.96 |
| Semrush toolkit with one 50-prompt block | ($99 + $60) / 75 1 | $2.12 |
| Otterly.AI Lite | $29 / 15 4 | $1.93 |
| Otterly.AI Standard | $189 / 100 4 | $1.89 |
| Otterly.AI Premium | $489 / 400 4 | $1.22 |
| Scrunch Starter, monthly billing | $300 / 350 6 | $0.86 |
| Scrunch Starter, annual billing | $250 / 350 6 | $0.71 |
Which alternative suits which kind of buyer?
Among the plans in this table, Scrunch works out lowest per prompt, but AthenaHQ and Ahrefs bill by credits or checks, so they cannot be compared this way. Scrunch also names seven platforms and three user seats on Starter 6. Otterly.AI posts three clear tiers, but several engines are paid extras, so price your engine list before you compare 4.
AthenaHQ suits a team that wants many engines and will watch credits, because one credit equals one AI response 5. Profound's Enterprise plan is quote-led; it also lists a self-serve Agency Growth plan with no dollar figure shown 7. Existing Ahrefs users can price the Brand Radar add-on first 3.
Can you skip the paid tool for now?
Often, yes. Google says traffic from its AI features is part of overall Search Console search traffic, shown under the Web search type, with no separate filter named on that page 8. That gives you real clicks at no cost.
Worked example: if you track 25 prompts on two engines once a month, that is 50 answers to read, which takes an afternoon. Add a monthly log of 20 to 30 buyer prompts across the assistants your customers use, and mark named, linked or missing. The AI prompt list builder drafts the list, and manual vs automated prompt tracking explains where the manual route stops working.
What can a tracker not do for you?
A tracker measures. It does not move your results. Google states that optimising for generative AI search is optimising for the search experience, so it is still SEO 9. The work that changes your visibility is the pages, the evidence on them and your reputation elsewhere.
Google also warns that third-party tools cannot see its internal ranking data, and that promised AI gains deserve scrutiny 10. Treat any score as a sample. For wider choices, read AI visibility tracking tools compared.
