AI SEO for Wedding and Event Services

The short answer

A wedding or event vendor gets recommended when AI can find portfolio pages that name the venues, cities and styles you really work in, honest dated reviews, clear packages and an accurate Google profile. Photos alone are not enough, because AI reads text. Nobody can promise a placement, so track a fixed prompt list monthly.

  • Google says no special markup or AI file is needed. Pages must be indexed and snippet-eligible, with descriptive alt text and nearby text for images. 16
  • In BrightLocal's local AI study, Google Business Profiles supplied 28.5% of citations and business websites 42%. 2
  • We found no study of how couples use AI to choose vendors, so measure your own enquiry sources.
  • Publishing couples' photos needs their consent, and India's data protection law is phasing in, per Wikipedia's summary. 8
  • Chalk Labs has not published results for a wedding business. What transfers is the method, used on a local shop.
Why it matters in Wedding and Event Services
  • Wedding vendors win on proof of place and style, and pages with words can show both to AI.
  • Local AI answers lean on Google profiles and business websites, which you control. 2
  • Destination weddings make the city and venue part of the prompt, so place pages carry weight. 7
  • Evidence on couple-specific AI use is thin, so your own enquiry source data matters most.

What could search and AI enquiries be worth to a wedding vendor?

Enter your own numbers to see how visits turn into enquiries and booked weddings each month, and what is left after the cost of your time and tools.

What this adds up to

About 8 customers a month and $12,000 in revenue. After a monthly cost of $300, that leaves $11,700.

How it is worked out

  • Enquiries = visits × enquiry rate.
  • Customers = enquiries × close rate.
  • Revenue = customers × average customer value.
  • Revenue minus cost = revenue − monthly cost.
  • Return multiple = revenue ÷ monthly cost.
  • Visits to break even = monthly cost ÷ revenue per visit. Revenue per visit = enquiry rate × close rate × customer value.

How do couples use AI to find wedding vendors?

Evidence is thin. We found no study measuring how often couples use AI to shortlist photographers, planners or decorators, so treat any exact share you see elsewhere as unsourced unless it names its method.

We do have two relevant facts. BrightLocal studied 1,967,762 citations from ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and AI Overviews for local searches. Google Business Profiles supplied 28.5% and business websites 42% 2. That study covers all industries, not weddings. Separately, Wikipedia describes Udaipur as a popular wedding destination for both Indian and foreign visitors 7, which is why a destination query names the city.

Our reading is that destination vendors face two audiences: locals who search with terms like 'near me' and travelling couples who search by city and venue. That is an inference, not a measured result.

What do AI engines look at when a wedding vendor is involved?

They split the prompt into smaller questions and look for a source for each. Google says AI Overviews and AI Mode may run several related searches across subtopics, called query fan-out 1. A picture cannot answer these questions by itself.

The table maps this page's buyer prompt to its hidden questions. It is modelled by us, not observed in a live run.

What questions do couples ask AI about wedding vendors?

Couples ask by service, city, venue, style and budget. The first prompt below is this page's buyer seed. The rest are modelled by us and were not observed.

Note that 'best' hides criteria. A page that states its own criteria, such as venues shot and hours covered, gives AI something checkable. A page that only says 'best' gives it nothing.

Modelled prompts and the page that would answer each
  • best wedding photographer in Udaipur -> Udaipur wedding portfolio page with venues, style and packages
  • wedding photographer who has shot at a lake palace venue -> venue gallery page, only for venues you really shot
  • how much does a destination wedding planner cost in Rajasthan -> pricing page with fee structure and what it covers
  • how many photographers do I need for a 3-day wedding -> advice page with a decision rule
  • wedding decorators in Udaipur who work with small guest lists -> decorator service page with guest-size examples

What should a wedding vendor publish first?

Publish one portfolio page per city or venue you really work in, written in text around the images. Lead with the answer in two sentences: what you shoot, where, in what style and from what price. Then show captioned galleries, packages, delivery times and reviews.

Google's image guidance calls alt text the most important image metadata. It also advises short descriptive file names, placing images near related text, and using standard image elements 6. A file named IMG0023.JPG with no caption tells AI nothing. 'Sunrise portrait at a lake palace venue in Udaipur' does.

Add a packages page and a how-we-work page. Include hours covered, team size, delivery times, deposit and cancellation terms. These are the facts couples ask for and generic pages leave out.

Skeleton for a city portfolio page
  • H1: Wedding photographer in Udaipur: lake and palace weddings
  • Answer: Style, years shooting in the city, venues covered, price from.
  • Gallery: 12 images, each with alt text and a one-line caption (venue, ceremony, season)
  • Table: Package | Hours | Team | Delivery time | Price from
  • Section: Venues I have shot (list only real ones)
  • Section: Travel, accommodation and weather planning
  • Section: Reviews from named couples, with dates
  • Section: How to check my date and book

How should a vendor handle the Google profile and reviews?

Make the profile match the real business, and ask every couple for an honest review. Google says your name should reflect your real-world business name, and that a service-area business should hide its address from customers 3. A photographer who travels to venues usually fits that second case.

The US FTC review rule, in force since 21 October 2024, bans fake reviews and review suppression through threats. It allows incentives only if nothing requires or implies a positive review, and undisclosed incentives may still break the law 4. These are US rules. They matter if you sell to US consumers; check India's consumer-protection guidance on endorsements for your home market.

On your own site, Google says a business that controls reviews about itself is ineligible for star results when it uses LocalBusiness or Organization markup 5. Show couples' words as text with their names and wedding dates, and do not rely on stars appearing.

Which rules and claim limits apply to wedding and event vendors?

Get consent before you publish couples, guests or children. Wikipedia's summary of India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 says consent is required for processing personal data, with some legitimate-use exceptions, and that provisions start in stages (13 November 2025, 13 November 2026 and the rest on 13 May 2027) 8. We have not read the official rules, so ask an Indian lawyer how it applies to client galleries. Put photo permission in your contract either way.

If you give free coverage or décor to a creator, US FTC guidance says anything of value is a financial relationship that must be disclosed with the endorsement 9. We could not open India's advertising standards guidance, so check local disclosure rules too.

Do not publish a near-identical 'wedding photographer in [city]' page for every city where you do not work. Google's spam policy lists pages aimed at specific cities that funnel users to one page as doorway abuse 10. See How to Create Programmatic Pages Without Triggering Spam Policies.

How do you measure whether it is working?

Measure enquiries and booked dates, not AI mentions. Add 'How did you find us?' to the enquiry form and ask on the first call, because AI influence often shows up as direct or branded visits.

Couples enquire months before the date, so record each enquiry's wedding date and how far ahead it came, and compare the same peak months year on year. Each month, run 5 fixed prompts on two AI engines, three runs each, and log whether you are named and which page is cited. See How to Build a Prompt List for AI Visibility Tracking.

What have Chalk Labs and Rahil Jain done in this field, and what have they not?

We have not published results for a wedding or event business. What transfers is the method: query research, answer pages, technical readiness and measurement. Chalk Labs has used it for a local trophy shop in Bengaluru, Meru Trophy, and for a personal brand site, shilikajain.com.

Chalk Labs sells AI SEO services, so weigh our view accordingly. The advice here rests mainly on the public sources cited.

Your first 90 days

Days 1-30

  • Write 20 couple prompts and record who is named for 5 of them today.
  • Check your Google profile name, service area and categories.
  • Add 'How did you find us?' to the enquiry form.
  • Add photo consent wording to your contract.

Days 31-60

  • Publish a city portfolio page with captioned images, packages and delivery times.
  • Publish a packages and how-we-work page.
  • Ask recent couples for honest reviews without steering the rating.

Days 61-90

  • Re-run the same prompts and compare with the baseline.
  • Add venue pages for the venues you really shot most.
  • Review enquiry sources and fix the weakest page.

The first pages to publish

  1. City wedding portfolio page. Matches the 'best vendor in [city]' prompt directly.
  2. Venue galleries, one per venue shot. Answers 'who has shot at this venue' with checkable proof.
  3. Packages and pricing. Price and hours are the most common hidden constraints.
  4. Style guide with captioned examples. Helps AI match style words to your work.
  5. Delivery times and what you receive. Answers a question generic pages skip.
  6. Planning guide for destination couples. Travel, weather and logistics are a real second audience.
  7. Real weddings and reviews. Dated proof from named couples builds trust.
  8. Availability and booking. Turns a citation into an enquiry.

How to read these numbers

Chalk Labs reports them from Google Search Console data. We cannot publish the raw console. The shilikajain.com site belongs to Shilika Jain, a Chalk Labs co-founder, so treat it as a demonstration on our own network and not as an independent client result. Meru Trophy is a client of Chalk Labs.

Frequently asked questions

Does ChatGPT recommend wedding photographers?

It can name photographers when it finds pages and listings that match the couple's city, style and budget. Results vary by prompt and run, and nobody can promise a placement. Track a fixed prompt list monthly instead of trusting one test.

Do I need text on a portfolio page, or are photos enough?

You need text. AI reads words, so pair each gallery with captions, alt text, venue names, packages and reviews. Google calls alt text the most important image metadata and advises placing images near relevant text 6.

Can I publish couples' photos without asking?

Ask first and put it in your contract. Wikipedia's summary of India's data protection law says consent is required for processing personal data, with some legitimate-use exceptions 8. We have not read the official rules, so check with an Indian lawyer how they apply to galleries.

Can I call myself the best wedding photographer in Udaipur?

Only with criteria a reader can check, such as venues shot, hours covered and dated reviews. Avoid unsupported superlatives. A page that shows its evidence is more useful to people and easier for AI to quote than one that only claims the title.

Should I make a page for every city I might travel to?

No. Near-identical city pages can count as doorway abuse under Google's spam policy 10. Write a page only for places you really work, with its own venues, packages and reviews.
