A printed copy, for you or for Dadi and Nani, is paid.

Page by page
  1. Cover

Your baby's first name and the name your family uses for the ceremony. You choose from three cover options in the preview.

  2. The day at a glance

  3. Getting ready

The outfit, the decorations and the plate laid out before the ceremony. We pick the clearest shots from what you choose and leave out duplicates.

  4. The blessing

If your family had a puja or a blessing, it gets a gentle spread, captioned only from what you tell us. Practice varies by family, region and community, so we never add rituals you did not have.

  5. The first bite

  6. The tray of objects

In many families, baby reaches for one of a few objects, like a book, a pen, money, a little mud or jewellery, and everyone has a playful guess about what it means. This spread shows the tray, the grab and the reactions.

  7. Family and blessings

  8. A note to your baby

The questions we ask
  1. What is your baby's first name? Any pet name at home?
  2. How old was baby on the day? (tap: under 6 months, 6 to 7 months, 7 to 8 months, older)
  3. What does your family call the ceremony? (tap: annaprashan, mukhe bhaat, choroonu, annaprashana, or type your own)
  4. Who was there? Tap everyone (Mumma, Papa, Dadi, Dada, Nani, Nana, Bua, Masi, Chacha, Mama, siblings) and add names
  5. What was baby's first bite, and who fed it? (tap or type)
  6. What did baby grab from the tray? (tap: book, pen, money, mud, jewellery, or skip)
  7. Which language should the captions be in? (English, Hindi or Hinglish)

Questions parents ask

Is it really free?

Making the book and saving the PDF is free. Printing is optional and paid, and we confirm the price and delivery date by email before you pay.

What happens to my photos?

Photo books are laid out on your device and the photos never leave it. For illustrated books, up to three photos are used once to draw the character and then deleted. See privacy.

Our family calls it mukhe bhaat. Will the book say annaprashan?

No. You tell us what your family calls the day, whether that is mukhe bhaat, choroonu, annaprashana or something else, and the cover and captions use that name.

At what age is annaprashan done?

Many families hold it at around six months, but timing varies by family, region and community. We do not calculate muhurat dates or give feeding advice. For when to start solid foods, ask your paediatrician, since every baby is ready at their own pace. Our guide to annaprashan age and rituals has more general background.

Cousins are in a lot of the ceremony photos. Is that a problem?

Other people's children appear by name only, unless their own parent agrees to their photos being in your book. If they agree, they can add those photos through your relatives link themselves.
