Function book

A haldi, mehendi and sangeet album, made from the photos on your phone

The pre-wedding functions are often the most fun, and the photos end up scattered across...

Vatna, Mehendi, Sangeet: Jasleen's Three Days in Ludhiana

For Jasleen, from her cousin Harleen, made from the cousins' phone photos

  1. A smiling bride in a pastel pink outfit holds up both hennaed palms towards the camera.
  2. Cousins laugh as they smear yellow paste on a bride seated on a low stool in a sunny courtyard.
  3. A henna artist draws a fine pattern on a bride's palm while she watches and smiles.
  4. A bride and groom dance on a lit stage while family members clap and a dhol player plays beside them.

About this book

It suits a bride, a sister or a cousin making it the same week, long before the main album arrives. You see a full preview before anything is printed, and you can swap any photo or caption with a tap.

Print it only if you love it.

Page by page
  1. Cover

A title built from the bride's or couple's names, the function and the city, for example Riya's Mehendi Night: Delhi, 14 November 2025. You can keep it, ask for another or write your own.

  2. First page

A short dedication from whoever made the book: the couple, a sibling, a cousin or the parents. Write your own line or choose one of three suggestions.

  3. The haldi

Getting ready, the turmeric paste, family members taking turns and the yellow, laughing aftermath. Some families call it maiyan, pithi or gaye holud, and the customs vary by family, region and community, so the captions use the words your family uses.

  4. The mehendi

Close-ups of the designs on hands and feet, the dholki songs, friends waiting for their turn and, in families that do it, the hunt for the partner's name hidden in the design. Similar shots are grouped so the best one gets the page.

  5. The sangeet

  6. The people who made it

A spread for up to five people you named, such as Chhoti Bua, Kabir bhaiya or Nani. Star a photo or two of each one, and the preview tells you if anyone still has no photo, so you can add one.

  7. The moment everyone still talks about

  8. Closing page and glossary

A closing note and, if you want it, a short page explaining haldi, mehendi and sangeet for friends and relatives who did not grow up with them.

The questions we ask
  1. Whose wedding is this? Bride's name and groom's name.
  2. Which functions should the book cover: haldi, mehendi, sangeet, or more than one?
  3. Which songs were performed at the sangeet, and who danced? Titles and names only.
  4. What's one funny or unforgettable moment from the function? Optional.
  5. Who made the function special? Name up to 5 people you'd hate to see missing.
  6. Which community or region's customs should the captions follow?
  7. Who is this book from, and what should the first page say? Write a line or pick one of 3 suggestions.
  8. Captions in English, Hindi or Hinglish?
Best for and styles
  • Brides who want the mehendi night in a book before the wedding photos even arrive
  • A sister or cousin making a function book as a gift for the couple
  • Sangeet organisers who want every performance and performer on record
  • Families who held only a haldi or a mehendi at home and want something small to keep
  • Relatives abroad who missed the functions and want to see how they went
  • Mehendi pastel: florals, henna motifs and soft colours, made for function books
  • Bollywood poster: a filmy cover and chapter openers, a good fit for the sangeet
  • Classic album: clean photo layouts on ivory pages with serif type
  • Folk motif: Madhubani, Kalamkari or Warli-inspired borders
  • Miniature royale: arches and borders inspired by Rajput and Mughal miniatures

Questions parents ask

Is it really free?

Making the book and saving the PDF is free. Printing is optional and paid, and we confirm the price and delivery date by email before you pay.

What happens to my photos?

Photo books are laid out on your device and the photos never leave it. For illustrated books, up to three photos are used once to draw the character and then deleted. See privacy.

Can I make a book for just one function?

Yes. Tick only the mehendi, for example, and the whole book is about that evening. Tick two or all three and each one gets its own chapter, in the order they happened.

How soon after the function can I make it?

The same night, if you like. You can make it within a week, from phone photos, while the main wedding photos are still being edited. The preview takes a few minutes to build, and nothing is printed until you confirm.

Our family does the haldi its own way. Will the captions get it wrong?

You tell us your community or region, and the captions follow that. Customs vary from family to family, so every caption is editable in the preview and you can regenerate or rewrite any line before you confirm.
