About this book
Printed copies are paid, and you can order one for everyone in the group.
Page by page
Cover
Your group's name and the years the chat covers, over a photo from the chat or one you pick. For example, 'Chai Pe Charcha' 2019 to 2026: 48,000 Messages, 1 Gang.
Meet the gang
A page for each member, by first name or nickname, with the title the group would give them: always late, the planner, the foodie, the drama, the therapist or the one with the car. Phone numbers are never printed.
Where it all started
The first message in the chat, the day the group got its name and the early photos, so the book opens the way the group did.
Chat stats
Infographic pages built from the chat: who texts first, who replies last, the most-used emojis, the busiest day, the longest late-night streak and the message that got the most replies. Captions can be in English, Hinglish or Hindi.
The threads you still quote
AI picks the funniest and most loved conversations and lays them out as simple chat bubbles, next to the photos shared at the time. Each excerpt is short, so the pages stay easy to read, and you can swap any thread in the preview.
Running jokes and gang awards
The words, nicknames and inside jokes that keep coming back appear the way you use them, and they are never explained. Award pages hand out titles from the who's-who chips you chose.

The questions we ask
- What's the group called, and what do you all call each other? (e.g. 'Chai Pe Charcha', Annu, Pagli)
- How did the gang meet, and roughly when? (tap: school, college, hostel or PG, work, neighbours, coaching, online or other, then add the year)
- Upload the exported chat file (with or without media) and pick the date range.
- Untick any members or topics to leave out, and confirm the gang is okay with the chat being printed.
- Who's who? Give each member a title. (tap: always late, the planner, the foodie, the drama, the therapist, the one with the car)
- Tell us the one memory you'll never stop bringing up.
- Your inside joke or code word? (optional: we won't explain it in the book, we'll just use it)
- Tone and caption language? (tap: emotional, funny roast or a mix; English, Hinglish or Hindi)
Best for and styles
- A friends' group that has been running for years and still quotes messages from 2019
- The gang organiser who wants a December recap or a big birthday gift from the whole group
- Two best friends whose chat is basically a diary of the last ten years
- A send-off for a friend moving to another city or abroad, built from the chat you all share
- Groups who want a copy for every member, not just one book for one person
- Chat bubbles: conversation-led pages with simple, generic chat bubbles and photos alongside
- Doodle sketchbook: hand-drawn arrows, circles and margin notes over your threads and photos
- Kraft scrapbook: kraft paper, washi tape and instant-photo frames around the best threads
- Y2K digicam: flash-photo frames, date stamps and pixel stickers for a gang that started in the hostel days
- Comic strip: panel layouts of your photos, with speech bubbles carrying your running jokes
Questions parents ask
Is it really free?
Making the book and saving the PDF is free. Printing is optional and paid, and we confirm the price and delivery date by email before you pay.
What happens to my photos?
Photo books are laid out on your device and the photos never leave it. For illustrated books, up to three photos are used once to draw the character and then deleted. See privacy.
How do I get the chat file?
Open the group on your phone, use the chat's export option and choose with or without media. Save or share the file, then upload it to Chalk Art. We only see the file you choose to upload, never the other chats on your phone.
Can the roast captions go too far?
Roast captions tease about habits and the chat itself. They never touch body shape, caste, religion or sexuality. If a line does not sit right, regenerate it, or switch the book to the emotional tone. Captions never use song lyrics or film dialogue.
